PT
Blacklist é a continuação do livro Unrivaled.

Blacklist is the continuation of the book Unrivaled. I have not read the first book. However, I believe that, contrary to what I have been told, you do not need to read it to understand the second one.
This book follows the mysterious disappearance of Madison Brooks, the hottest and most beloved girl in Hollywood. Their "friends" and acquaintances have become involved in the history of her disappearance and, when one of them is is almost deemed guilty, they come together and try to find Madison who, after all, is not quite who she claimed to be.

When I started reading this book, I was a bit scared since all the reviews I read were very negative. However, I confess that I loved this book and am looking forward to the next one.
The main action is quite captivating and I felt really interested in figuring out who caused her disappearance and why.
The fact that the story is told in several points of view is another feature that made the book so good.We get to know and understand each character better, which is a very important factor if you are trying to find out who is the guilty one.
The only thing in this book that made me less happy was the fact that not everything was revealed which make us wait (ANSIOUSLY !!) for the next volume !! I hope HarperCollins publishes it quickly!

Now that a-list celebrity Madison Brooks has gone missing, potentially murdered, Ira’s group of club promoters are suspected and must come together to see if they can locate her whereabouts. This novel had a case of the second book syndrome. To be honest this novel didn’t feel like it progressed the overall story arc. The plot for this novel felt like it could have been shorter, or it could have happened in the first or final book. The reader spent the whole novel wondering about one character because all the other characters were looking for her. Sure, we learned a little more about these characters but it still felt like there was no plot progression; we didn’t need over 400 pages of trying to locate one person. This novel felt like it drifted from the main plot of this trilogy, hopefully the last novel will get back on track. This novel had all characters come together and work together even if they didn’t want to. It felt like this was supposed to give us more character development, but it just left them doing the same thing over and over again. The reader is still semi-curious about how this trilogy will come to an end and to get some answers. As for this novel, it really didn’t feel like it was worth the time to read this.

I received this book as an early release from Netgalley.

I read the first book in this series, unrivalled, and was pleasantly surprised. Mostly because I love a murder mystery and this series was something unlike other things currently on the market.

I have to say, the second book did not disappoint!

I had been waiting ages for the second book in the series and I read it so quickly I didn't realise I had finished it until I turned the last page and was confused as to why there wasn't any more pages haha.

This story is about the disappearance of Hollywood It Girl Maddison Brooks and her checkered past. It's also about the team from the first book and their journey to discover what really happened to Maddison.

The ending was so infuriating because it felt like we were so close to a revelation and having all the answers we need! I can't wait for the third book!

I think that as a sequel, this book is really good at delving deeper with the main characters. As readers we really get to know them better and (gasp) become emotionally invested in them. I definitely have a few couples who are endgame for me!

Overall, another brilliant read - especially if you're looking for something a little different to the typical teen and YA books.

It dragged a bit if I'm honest and didn't really capture my attention in the same way that the first one did. It was still well written but it really was just a filler between books one and three.

Blacklist by Alyson Noel is the sequel to last year's YA Hollywood mystery, Unrivaled. Taking place not long after the first one, we find Aster in jail for the murder of Madison, Layla trying her best to clear Aster's name, and Tommy trying to steer clear of all the drama as his music career is finally starting to take off.

My Likes

And the Plot Thickens

As readers we all know that Madison is not really dead as we get her POV from the story. But things are starting to come together about who has taken her and why they are trying so hard to frame Aster for her murder. As the Scooby Gang continue to dive into this mystery of who, what, when, where and why, Madison is dire trouble. She is fighting to get out and find help. But how far is she going to have to push?

Noel does a good job adding little tidbits here and there that add thickness to the plot without fully giving away too many answers. If it was any other regular mystery, I think it would fall pretty flat though. But with the added backdrop of Hollywood, the rumors, and the paparazzi, Blacklist is one exciting read!

Tons of Drama

Where there is Hollywood, actors, and models, you better believe there is drama right around the corner. Not only are the reporters and paparazzi hounding Aster, but the cops are right on their trail. With rumors flying around it's hard to not getting a little stir crazy.

Innocence only lasts until you're caught.

Character Developments

Aster is in a pretty shitty situation at the moment, but we can see her growing up in a way that was different from Unrivaled. Not only is she not acting like a spoiled daddy's girl anymore, but she is also starting to think of more than just herself. Meanwhile, things are starting to heat up between Layla and Tommy, and I am there for that. YES!

Noel is going a great job making theses characters feel real in some way. It's a hard thing to do when the backdrop is a murder mystery! So kudos to her.

My Dislikes

Not Very Mysterious?

I'm a little underwhelmed with the "mystery" surrounding Madison's disappearance and possible murder, because as a reader we know she's not dead. I'm kind of anticipating a rather dull reveal when it comes down to it to be honest. I feel like it's not going to live up to the hype that it hopes it's building toward.

I'm more into the character's lives and the TV show feels that I get from Blacklist. I'm crossing my finger for some good stuff to come in the finale!

I recommend this one if you like the mysterious lives of Hollywood stars, drama piled on to more drama, and a highly addictive cast of characters. Let me know what you guys thought of Blacklist by Alyson Noel! I would love to hear your opinions as well!
