4.5 stars!!

I read Love, Theoretically first and loved it so I was super excited to read this one as many say this is their favorite. I thought this one was just as sweet as I thought Love, Theoretically was. Olive is a quirky, relatable character and constantly was making me giggle. Adam was our beloved grumpy, broody, oversized MMC that Ali writes so well. I hadn't really read much of the fake dating trope before this, but I really enjoyed it! Adam and Olive's banter and just wholesome, genuine connection made my heart feel warm, and I definitely caught myself blushing, giggling and kicking my feet so many times while reading this. The spice was, of course, a giant plus and well done. I definitely will keep reading Ali Hazelwood's future books!

If you need a short, sweet ans easy read, this is it. The characters are lovely, you get to explore a world (academia) you might not know, and its a great story. Was it the best writing? No, but no need for that when the story and characters are compelling.

I liked it way more than I anticipated. I must say that reading the description of the book years ago I thought it was not a good fit for me, with such common tropes, and the fact that the male love interest had a six pack (I prefer when book doesn't focus on the characters looks, and doesn't give importance to common conventions about physical attraction). At the end, I saw a copy for free in a tiny free library and so I brought the book home.

I was surprised, I fell in love with the characters, and I was able to ignore the details that I didn't like much.

*Sigh* opens list of fav book boyfriends and adds: Dr. Adam Carlsen.* this was a fun one! Fake dating, and grump + sunshine trope = awkward moments, & I guess a really intense spicy chapter? First half of the book, I thought this would be a bust - but mannnn the last half, um dr. Carlsen YES PLEASEEEE

Love the fake dating trope, hate miscommunication or just SUCH a lack of communication, the ending bumped it from a 3 star to a 4 star in my opinion
