I see what people are saying about the way the fake dating situation starts with the potentially questionable kiss being problematic. Though I think the author addresses it more than her criticizers give credit for.

This book requires you to put up with some pretty insufferable choices on the main characters side.
the choice to not own up to liking Adam and Tom’s shittiness when she first has the chance is so frustrating. And also her willful ignorance to believing adam might like her back all in the name of science?! No. Just communicate. You’re adults.

I loved the addition of the friends. That got me through.

The smut scene what’s weirdly possessive on Adam’s part and that threw me off too.

I love Adam without an argument. I understand why everyone was saying this as a $mut, because daaamn that was a long chapter. As a science student, it was nice to see something subject related because it felt familiar. I like the story, I do. But I kinda don't think it's a 5 star for me because I like it because the subject related to me, and I'm also a student. But if I forget about those stuff, I really don't have anything that I can be happy with. Yes I like Adam, but the story itself didn't felt right for me. I kinda expected more than this.

I absolutely loved that the main characters are scientists, and I liked that there was a bit of the impostor syndrome going on because that's true probably with most women, especially those in STEM. The prologue was super obvious about who The Guy was and the book didn't transition very well from The Guy to The Night (insert eye roll here). I'm glad we were able to find out Adam's outward motive for going along with the fake dating, but I really wish we could've gotten his point of view as well, not just Olive's. I want to know how someone 'pines' over a stranger for 3 freaking years. Or 2. Whatever. I had a hard time following along with Olive because it seems like the author wants to present her as someone who lacks confidence but she takes to Adam right away, as though The Universe willed them to be together. I loved the demi rep; that chapter (you know which I'm talking about *wink wink*) was beautifully done. The bit with the harassment really triggered me, I was surprised, and it's probably because that was the most believable part of the book, sadly. I thought the book was also really funny and loved some of the comments that Olive would make (I'm paraphrasing): "he's probably into something atrocious like cow tipping." I thought the time for the main characters to "fall in love" was too fast. Perhaps that's how love happens post mid-20s.

A fantastic fauxmance! Adam is dark and brooding but also protective and caring. A swoon worthy read for anyone who likes smart people and some spice.

The book was good, but everything plot wise was very predictable. The smutty part was good, but (i cant make this up) wasnt until 69% into the audiobook. It was a fun listen but i wouldn’t say it was one that made you think. A fluffy fun book.
