My second contemporary romance read I’ve chosen the very much hyped book from bookstagram.

Olive a grad student at Stanford enters into a fake relationship with Dr Adam Carlsen, the arrogant ass professor. Why you ask? As a far fetched plan to convince her friend to date someone else and to convince the university to release Adam’s grant funds.
And thus the classic fake dating trope unfolds.

This was a fun little book but I did find Olives over thinking annoying and her wild on the spot decision making unrealistic. It was great to see a woman working in STEM represented as someone intelligent and doing great work in her field.

One issue I had was the gaslighting. It has to be my pet hate and I didn’t really think it fit the way Olives character has been built up. Yes she was insecure but she was so feisty it just seemed not quite right that she would be a victim and fall for this.

Other trigger warnings include cancer, sexual assault and mental abuse and some 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ spice (18+ recommendation)

All in all a fun and easy read (or listen in this case).

I quite liked this book, and I have no idea what all of the internet hate is about, because all I've seen on social media is about how awful this book was. I think it's because it is very obvious that it used to be Reylo fanfic, and people just hate fanfic for some reason.

Well, it was quite good, and fell into several tropes that I really like, including fake dating and real feels. It features demi-sexuality rep, Jewish rep, and Olive discovered a lot about herself and what she really wants in life as the story goes on. There were aspects I thought could be better, but it was fun. Olive was witty and incredibly genre-savvy, and while Adam was pretty one-dimensional, he does grow a fair amount as a character.

This is the cutest freaking shit I‘ve read in a long while. Such a vibe and I enjoyed every single second of it.
I wanted to strangle Olive a few times because she was so oblivious but the also she so cute and adorable.
And Adam. *sigh* now I want a Adam in my life as well. He’s also so cute, but also so other 😏 the perfect combination if you‘d asked me. ☺️

I enjoyed it more than expected! I rooted for the main couple to get together as I thought that they displayed quite a healthy relationship and both characters were just loveable! I loved the STEM and academia setting as it's close to my heart as a woman in engineering field. Loved the romance, the science and the banter betweeen the two.

The only thing that annoyed me were the repeated descriptions how small/short/tiny Olivia is and how huge/large/gigantic Adam is. Also the prose is just simple and definitely reads like a fanfic but I still enjoyed my spent time with it.

I was frustated! Kinda cringy writing, tried to like her friend but couldn't really, Adam was nice, I wanted to beat up Olive at some points (I mean how oblivious can you be?),
TOM can go fuck himself!!!
and if you're going into this thinking it's spicy, it's a 🌶
but if you're just looking to pass time reading something cute ig you might like it
