Went back to give this 5 stars. My heart hurts for things he went through, but can't help but be amazed at where he was when he left this Earth. Such a good memoir. Going to give it a second read at some point for sure.
Did this one audibook. Matthew Perry was the reader.
I was not a huge friends fan the first time around. In reality i am not a huge friends fan to this day.
My daughter on the other hand is. So i have been forced to watch every single episode of this series over the years.
I will say i have laughed out loud at some of the episodes and I will admit that Monica and Chandler were/are my favourite characters from the series.
I will also admit that i do not fully understand addiction of any kind. I can honestly say I have never been addicted to anything so I really have no personal experience to speak from.
That being said, Matthew Perry makes me very sad and I have to admit i did yell at him several times while listening to this. The man has led a very troubled life that like i said i will not be able to understand but my god Matthew you are a bleeping idiot.
I hope you find piece and contentment somewhere along the way because you have suffered more than most.
I will be going back to watch certain episodes he references just to understand better things he speaks about.
It was an interesting read for the most part. Spends a little too long trying to wrap it up i thought.

This one was a little spooky. It was hard listening to him speak about death and overcoming, knowing what comes next. I think we sometimes forget that these people we look up to and idolize are human with human issues. Matthew had a hard life and fought a disease that has taken so many in my life. RIP Matthew. I hope you now live in that golden light over the ocean.

A very strong memoir that really pulled me in. I loved parts of it, and found it both raw and eye-opening. I didn’t realize just how severe Perry’s addiction was, and the level of honesty he brings to describing it is powerful.
I also really enjoyed the insight into his career outside of Friends—hearing about his other roles, the ups and downs, and how his personal struggles shaped his work gave the book extra depth. His candid accounts of rehab experiences were intense but gave me a much better understanding of what he went through.

This was a hard listen, as he narrated the audiobook, so it really felt like he was telling his story. I had no idea the struggles he has faced. I just saw Chandler, and it’s incredible that he was able to put on such a good show all those years. You just want to give him a big hug when it ends. (Audiobook)
