Kandi writes the most beautiful stories, but especially when they are sports and college romance. Blind Side is set in the same universe as Fair Catch so we get to see Riley and Zeke again. Blind Side is a fake dating romance between football star Clay Johnson and PR coordinator Giana Jones. I loved their reason for fake dating: to make someone jealous. Giana wants to get the attention of a guy in a band, and Clay wants to make his ex-girlfriend jealous and take him back.
From the moment of their first fake kiss there is an undeniable passion between them. When Clay agrees to give Giana “lessons”, we quickly see that these two are unable to fake it for much longer. Giana is a virgin with some self confidence issues. But she learns to speak up for what she wants, in and out of the bedroom. Clay is sweet and swoon worthy and very devoted to making his mom happy. I loved how Clay and Giana were together, they enjoyed the simple things together which you don’t always get to see in a book. Together they get to experiment in ways Giana only ever dreamed of in her romance novels.
Kandi gives us a crazy steamy romance about two opposite but yet meant to be individuals. Their relationship worked so well whether it was their fake or real one. And just when they are feeling comfortable in their relationship, Kandi throws in a huge plot twist and attempts to break everyone’s heart, including mine! It was so sad because it wasn’t something either one of them did or wanted but instead was manipulated by outside forces. I do wish we got to see Clay blow up the plan and come clean with the truth but I think it worked that instead we focused on Clay’s grand gesture to win back the love of his life.

Encore un Kandi Steiner, encore une réussite. J’ai l’impression de me répéter à chaque fois que je lis l’un de ses romans, mais c’est vraiment une reine de la romance, c’est tout.
En même temps, ici, avant même de commencer la lecture j’étais vendue. DU FAKE DATING MERDE. Je ne sais pas résister à ce trope, et j’ai adoré ce que l’autrice en a fait ! Je pense que le fait de l’avoir dévoré en une matinée en dit assez long sur le caractère addictif, mais au cas où je le redis : ça se dévore. J’étais tellement impliquée que je ne pouvais plus relever la tête du livre.
J’ai adoré l’histoire de Clay et Giana ! Ils sont franchement hilarants, ce qui a eu le don de me donner le sourire pendant 400 pages, mais ils sont surtout adorables. La transition entre le « pour de faux » et le « c’est réel » est juste parfaite, c’était incroyable de les voir craquer l’un pour l’autre alors que ce n’était pas du tout au programme. Giana donne des vibes de main character, à l’instar des romances qu’elle lit et qu’elle rêve de vivre, et j’ai adoré ce parallèle !
Comme dans fair catch, on retrouve le même groupe de potes et le même univers sportif, ce qui crée une ambiance super chaleureuse (et avec aussi beaucoup d’adrénaline…). La passion de l’autrice se ressent à chaque page. Tout est réussi honnêtement, c’était juste dingue !

Not only spicy but deep and romantic. Clay has some serious family issues going on and I related to him so much. Seeing Clay’s family life was eye opening and made you understand why he wasn’t ready to let go of his relationship with his ex.
Also Giana is someone that I think embodies a lot of girls in the book community. She doesn’t want to be treated like a princess or like glads, she wants to be treated like a temptress. I loved reading about how Clay took it slow with her teaching her about her pleasure and the pleasure of others. It was honestly beautiful with how respectful Clay is with her as she finds her own sexuality.
Overall, Clay is a keeper! He can read my tabbed and highlighted books any day… as long as he promises to perform it all later just like he did in the book to Giana.
