A stunning graphic novel that ripped out my heart!! I would love to read more volumes with these characters. The art was beautiful! The use of color to show when we were in the present day, the past, and following stories from fairytales was a brilliant decision. I read this in one sitting with a box of tissues at the ready. Everyone should read this!!

This book was absolutely beautiful, from the visuals to the story. It did make me cry a bit, I just loved how Tien and his mom used fairytales as a common way to communicate.

A beautiful and magical story about a young teenage boy struggling with his homosexuality and the question of when and how to tell his parents. The stories of the characters are beautifully mirrored in each of the fairy tales used in this story.
I found the last one, told by Tiến's mother, the most beautiful, as it perfectly illustrated her acceptance of her son. That even if neither of them fully knew the words in Vietnamese to discuss it and understand it, that she loved him, all of him, and wanted to see him grow up and be happy.
A magical and touching story, told in beautiful illustrations.

Beautifully illustrated and poignantly written! A middle schooler trying to come out to his mom interspersed with the fairy tales they tell each other. I always get a little weepy reading anything that involves conversion therapy, that was a bit of a jolt to my senses but also it was very brief and exclusively from teachers and not from parents at all so it was alright.
