I think I just didn’t get it. I liked the art and I wanted to understand it but I struggled to follow it.

I think I need to read it again. The artwork is a unique style. My daughter asked if I was meant to color it. There are some unexpectedly poignant moments…and there is a certain comfort in the mundane moments. To clarify, unexpected in the sense that they don’t come from a buildup. One moment she’s telling us about her daughter ordering milk, and the next we’re learning about how she both believes and doesn’t believe in God. I’m not sure if I’d recommend it to anyone, but I wouldn’t not recommend it either.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. This book is so dark, and I laughed so much. This is how people are. In all their glory.

Being a human is tough. Especially a human parent. Keiler Roberts' Chlorine Gardens uncovers the connections that keep the lights on, even when it's really, really dark out.
And it's so funny.
I cracked up so hard while reading that my five-year-old joined me in cackling to tears. Then he asked why we were laughing. He is still clamoring for the story with the guy about to realize that he sat in dog poop.

This was okay, but not my favorite. I wasn't especially entranced by the art, and it was a story without much of a plot line. I guess I like memoirs to be a little more cohesive.

Connected with this one in a way that I want to read everything they have ever written.

The beautiful balance of harshness and humor in this book has made me an instant Keilor Roberts fan. It feels suddenly very important that I get my hands on all her books.

Loved it. Grabbed me immediately. I like raw, autobiographical comics. I think... feel closer to the writer when I see their art. I'm more emphatic. I can't stand most written memoirs. IDK why. And there is a history of mental unhealth and MS in my family so I really resonated with it.
