I was really excited to get an ARC of this one so let’s get right into it, shall we?
It’s wild because I easily fall victim to secondhand embarrassment, like absolutely frozen in mortification to problems not even related to me. In Mistakes Were Made, Meryl Wilsner makes what should be a mortifying situation something I bought into pretty quickly. I found myself cheering them on despite being STRESSED about their situation. And don’t get me wrong, this book is spicy. Like please don’t read it with your mom in the room spicy but also it’s just CUTE. Cassie and Erin are both so obviously and obliviously /into/ each other and it’s cute. The pacing of their relationship made me fall right into it with them.
And the side characters (minus Adam we hate Adam)! Don’t we all wish we had someone steadfast and loyal like Acacia, someone willing to encourage us to LIVE like Rachel, or just someone as forgiving of our mistakes as Parker? Prioritizing friendship, and those difficult conversations, as much as the romance is not always the case in a lot of contemporary romance so it made me happy to find it here.
The age gap thing was tricky. Of course it’s two consenting adults but college-aged and 40 is… a gap. There were moments that I had to pause reading because I was reminded of the age gap and it took me out of the story a little. (I mean, she can’t even rent a car!!)
All in all, I was entertained. From the spice, to the angsty, holding my breath a little moments, to age gap discussions, I remained entertained and excited to read more which is all I ask for at the end of the day. I’ll be excited to pick this one up from my local bookstore in October. AND I finally get to cross MILF from my 2022 sapphic book bingo card.

Thank you St Martin's Press and NetGalley for the advanced readers copy.
Erin and Cassie meet at a bar and their connection is immediate, despite an age gap. They know it will only be that night because Erin is from out of town. Erin is visiting for Parents Weekend at her daughter, Parker's college. When Parker brings Cassie to meet her Mom, she doesn't think much of it, until her mom is Erin. Lots of sneaky kisses and near kisses later, we get a HEA.
This book was enjoyable but definitely slow in the middle. The ending was great considering I spent the majority of the book trying to figure out how they were going to resolve telling Parker without losing her. Great LGBTQ+ rep.

Yes, I did read this overnight in one sitting when I should have been sleeping but I do not care cause I love me some milf
This book gave me the ick. I am a lesbian with a daughter about to leave for college. The idea of pursuing one of her friends is just gross. We wouldn’t find this behavior even remotely okay if it was an older man, so why is it acceptable for women? I’m sorry, but this relationship just felt really yucky. So much so that the sex scenes that I otherwise would have found hot, I just had to skip through.
This is my first book by this author and I absolutely loved it. This is everything I could ever want from a Sapphic romance. Don't let this cover fool you, this is steamy!
Cassie is such a confident character and is not afraid to go after what she wants. So when she sees a beautiful woman from across the room, she buys her a drink and one thing leads to another. Cassie is young, but she has a stable head on her shoulders and is excelling in college.
Erin is in town to visit her daughter at college so the night before she is to meet her daughter, she ends up in a random bar and it quickly becomes a night she will never forget.
The two part ways and call it what it is, a one night stand. That is until the two run into each other at breakfast.
Their chemistry is off the charts and it will have your heart wooing for these two.
Some of my favorite tropes, best friend's parent (mom), age gap, forced proximity and it is spicy. Need I say more?
*Thank you Netgalley for an Audio ARC: above is my honest review*
