OMIGOD.

2.5 stars rounded up to 3. Not a bad book but Hazelwood’s books are just getting too predictable since they have the same template for each one. You instantly know who the villain is and that the main character is always looking at things in a misinformed way that the love interest will help correct. Also same physical features and intimate experiences for each love interest and heroine. Like I said, not bad, it’s just getting too repetitive and predictable. I always buy her books first day they’re out because I love a good STEM romance and enemies to lovers but next time I think I’ll wait to hear if it’s the formatting and template is the exact same again. Audiobook narrator was awful though, so buy the print if you can.

How does anyone think this book is fast paced? Please explain lol
It's undeniable that Ali Hazelwood has a formula for her romances. The broody infamous male character who may seem distant but is secretly obsessed with the quirky kinda insecure and inexperienced female character. The enemies to lovers that is actually a miscommunication trope. And honestly I eat that sh*t up EVERY TIME. SUE ME!
As a STEM girlie is really nice to feel seem and contemplated by her romances. It also creates unrealistic expectations that I'll somehow find a hot talented man in the halls of my department, which always causes disappointment.
But anyway, about the story *spoilers ahead* the main criticism I've read about this book is about how Elsie doesn't believe Jack likes her even when he tells her so. But honestly if I saw the man I was attracted to on a date (allegedly) with the woman who got the job I wanted I would've freaked out too. In a worse way. I would probably cry in public. And not only run away but run away screaming. And he was in fact famous on this department for the hoax paper so I also understand Elsie being reticent to forgive that.
Overall, the story made much sense to me and I loved Jack and Elsie's relationship, they're so cute and healthy for each other, it honestly made me so happy. And I'm a total SUCK UP for acts of service and grand gestures so for me Jack is honestly SO dreamy, it's worth the read just so I can have some giggles. And Elsie is such a good main character as well! I used to be annoyed at Olive in The Love Hypothesis because she could act so childish sometimes, but Elsie, despites being a pushover in many occasions, she was always honest and herself when she was with Jack and also when she was working with the thing she is most passionate about, which is physics, so it worked really well for me. I wish the book was longer so we could have like a engagement or wedding scene at end.
That's it from me, bye!
