Nice mystery, that isn’t cookie cutter trope filled!! Great representation of neurodivergence! I enjoyed the characters and would read more about them.

I like Jo, she was got swindled by her ex, her mother barely prepared her for this inheritance, and yet she persists, and I actually think she thrives once she is independent and focused on getting the house back on its feet.

The mystery throws yet another wrench in her plans, butt she doesn't let that stop her. I was so relieved she found a friend in Tula, who understood on some level that Jo needed her for support, and her instant friendship to Gwilym is adorable, even DCI MacAdams recognizes that Jo is different and doesn't treat her differently, although that may seem harsh as she is a suspect for a minute in present day murder, I wouldn't want anyone to treat her with kid gloves. that would really ruin her growth.

There were a few mysteries which were split up, as one being police procedural and another of historical/origins, & you know I really appreciated that as sometimes these cosy mysteries can get delusional with the way they solve mysteries with nothing but their wits and instincts...

I did not like that Jo's mystery was left to interpretation tho, but that's unavoidable as it happened so long ago and you really can't prove that your ancestors held their wive's sister hostage and then buried her body and ran away with her child.... that's wild... (I hope they discover it in the next installment tho).
