Strange yet hilarious. Deeply cynical with a cool sci-fi concept. In terms of classics, this one is pretty high on my list.
Bokononism. A religion created in humor to make people think about the end of the world. During the Cold War, people were pretty sure they were going to die because of the nuclear weapons. The book is a humorous response to how religion and science both can be misused.
I found the book to be funny but I also found it to have the sad choices sometimes humans make. In my opinion, Vonnegut is criticizing the scientific community of that time for being indifferent to the moral and ethical consequences. In summary, Vonnnegut sense of humor is portrayed. The scientific community was irresponsible and stupid to create the nuclear weapons so he wrote this book criticizes them hilariously.
I enjoyed the book. Some people say it is one of the greatest books ever written. I say, you need to know the context in it's entirety to appreciate the book. I have some general knowledge on cold war but if I knew more on the topic I may have enjoyed the book even more so.

I adored this book. I had no expectations going in except what was on the back of the book, and it blew me away. I haven't been on goodreads in forever, and I read this a bit ago, so my thoughts aren't fresh anymore, but when I reread it in the future, I'll have to write a proper review.

Classic Vonnegut, sarcastic and unserious sci-fi book about the end of the world. Very quick read. Most of the book I was not really getting the point of the plot, and this kind of continues until it ends. The concept of Bokononism he creates are hilarious and original, and the concept of ice-nine is terrifying.
