This started off so strong. The concept is fascinating. I wish it was more sinister and mysterious. It was less about The Centre and more about Anisa, but Anisa was really starting to grate on me by the end. Like girl, there's !*spoiler*! cannibalism in this, where is the urgency?!? Its told from Anisa's point of view and she really enforces her own morals but doesn't consider anyone else's or even reflect upon herself whilst she's criticising others . She's always calling other people out whilst being clueless herself. It makes any moments when she thinks she's being deep feel patronising and shallow. It's a testament to the writing really, but I honestly couldn't stand her by the end. And I hated the last chapter. A terrible ending to be honest. Just because you make it meta, doesn't mean you've concluded the story.
I found this book was very intriguing! The pacing was quick and it was a quick read. It features a school called 'The Centre' which is a prestigious learning school. You pay 20k to go in for 10 days and you come out knowing a completly new language. The twists in the put definitely put it in the weird fiction genre and the characters have so much heart.
