Pretentious bullshit. I was going to write a whole review, but to be honest: this book doesn’t deserve any more of my time

After reading Lanny, I wanted to try Grief is the thing with feathers.
I really love the writing style of the author, and even though some parts were kind of mysterious for me - and also I have never lost anyone that i really loved - Ive not been the best public for this book. But It still got me good, ended up crying my eyes out.
I think Max Porter is slowly becoming my favourite author.

Ok that was awful. I have never counted down the pages for such a short book.

This is pure gibberish and uncomfortably male.

Unfortunately, I think the essence of the story (i.e. the "potential") is there. Porter's narrative storytelling is OK so I believe if this was a short story/novella without the (barely) 'poetic' form then this might have been better.

The stringing words and onomatopoeia is really overdone and ends up losing the audience quickly. It felt more like rubbish than anything literary.

The quote below is this book's only saving grace as it did remind me of my own traumas and the shock associated with that:
“Where are the fire engines? Where is the
noise and clamour of an event like this?
Where are the strangers going out of their
way to help, screaming, flinging bits of
emergency glow-in-the-dark equipment
at us to try and settle us and save us?"
