I love experimental books. I think the title and cover are both gorgeous. Despite the two star rating I am proud to display this bookshelf.
Where it fell apart for me was the Crow chapters which is a little bit silly because that's the whole gimmick of the novel. The novel would have been a lot more emotionally resonant if the crow wasn't saying shit and fuck every section. Perhaps Porter was worried about the novel becoming overly sentimental.
When Porter did allow the novel to be sentimental I caught myself stopped several times hit by the truth of grief.

Het zegt veel over mezelf dat ik na het boek uitgelezen te hebben, me bijna verraden voelde toen op de achterflap stond dat de auteur getrouwd is. Alsof je alleen over verdriet zou mogen schrijven als je het overkomen is.
Indringend geschreven met mooie beelden en zo hier en daar nonsenstaal.
