I adore how Porter’s works read like interlinking poetry. After reading Shy and watching All of This Unreal Time I went out and bought this, alongside Lanny and The Death of Francis Bacon. While I admittedly sometimes struggle to understand every sentence, finishing this book felt like reading the collective diary of a family’s experience with loss, so intimate yet hazy and unfamiliar. Crow is such an interesting character and I wish there was a recording of the play out there because this seems like it would translate so well to the stage.

Heel bijzonder boekje. Kraai, vader en de jongens wisselen elkaar af in het vertellen hoe hun leven is nadat hun moeder gestorven is. ‘Grief’ krijgt hierin een soort fysiekaliteit en dat is prachtig. Het gaat van hot naar her en uiteindelijk raakte het me heel diep. Prachtig echt!

I think I was missing some context, but I did enjoy it! It was emotional for me and got my eyes watering at the end
