Elena seems to have it all, despite her parents having died. She's popular and still has her family close. And then a new boy, Stefan comes to town and appears to be immune to her charms. Determined to have him, Elena and her friends embark on a plan to 'capture' Stefan. Little do they know what's in store, or what Stefan is.
Now Elena and Stefan have found a way to be together, despite Stefan's secret. But something else is happening - involving Stefan's brother, determined to take Elena from Stefan. And frame him for all the attacks happening to the people of Fell's Church.
This is the first two books in the series of Vampire Diaries. Pretty standard vampire romance story with the triangle introduced after the two main characters seem settled into their relationship. Enjoyable.

It was not as good as I thought it was going to be but it was awesome anyway. It was nothing like the series they made On Cw. I want to read it the rest of the books badly now!!
Completely different from the tv series so it was alot of fun to read. Excited for the next one!

I wasn't convinced by this at all at first. I found it extremely difficult to get into because of the style of the writing (as well as its 'dated' feeling), but I persevered and was rewarding with some great characters and interesting plot lines.
I think this is a case of being too old for these books. I bet that if I'd read them when I was 14 or 15, I would have loved them. At 25, I found Elena a little hard to sympathize with and didn't really feel like the relationship between her and Stefan had enough build-up to get me fully invested in it. Still, I do want to read more in the series; The Struggle leaves off at a terrible place, and I do want to find out what happens next. It just might take me a while to get there.
