I didn't expect to love this book as much as I did but it was actually quite enjoyable. The dialogue was not that great and I seriously had to stop myself from ripping the book apart everytime that Elena said the phrase "oh, Stefan", but the plot pulled me in so I can forgive the less than impressive writing. Elena was a badass in the series opposed to the self righteous goody goody her TV counterpart is. She was confident, strong willed, determined, and brave. I loved her! And damn was Damon an even sexier bad boy between the pages. He was ruthless, cruel, and dangerous, and I swooned a bit. Stefan was still an uptight immortal that liked to eat bunnies, weak, and sorta boring, so his personality didn't really change much. I liked the way that Elena had to chase after him, though. He was really rude to her at first, even though he was stalking her; that was a nice surprise that differed from the TV series. I liked to see Stefan behaving as less than a perfect gentleman at times. The ending left me on such a cliffhanger and I can not wait to sink my teeth into the next installment of The Vampire Diaries. Pun intended. lol.

Hmmm...What do I think? Did I like the story?

I do like The Vampire Diaries. It is a simple straight forth story that is easy and quick to read. I could not help but to think of the Twilight books. I would think...“The Vampire Diaries was the start and Twilight polished up the whole ‘teenage girl lusting after vampire boy’ thing.” By that, I mean, The Vampire Diaries is a bit more toned down in the whole lust factor and intrigue yet at the same time it was not. Hard to explain except that maybe I could "feel" the time for when the books were written. A time where I do not think YA books were all out there in full gusto. Even though I am describing the story as simple this should not imply that it was flat. The story was not flat, matter of fact, I found myself turning the pages wanting to know what would happen thus the "quick" read description.
The Vampire Diaries got right to the point.

The Vampire Diaries was overall a good read that kept me glued to the pages while not wasting away too many of my precious brain cells.

nothing like the tv series and the only reason i am watching that is because of friend reccomendations... sucks cause seems like once you start you get sucked in no matter how bad the series (both book and tv) is. I feel like I am watching Beverly Hills 90210 vampire style. haha!

Short books, not truly amazing but I find this very easy and nice reads. Can't wait for the next part to come out

It's like the Twilight series, but well-written and darker. An amazingly quick read.
