This is one of those books where the show is better then the books.

I’m in a Vampire Diaries hang over after rewatching the show. I decided to pickup the books to maybe relive the moments.

The only thing this book has in common with the show is the title of the book….

🛑Stop here if you don’t want minor spoilers🛑

I can say that the show did a great job but changing the same of the towns name. Mystic Falls sounds so much better then Fells Church.

Katherine in this book is weak and has zero personality. I still can’t find why Stefan and Damn fell in love with her because she’s literally annoying.

Also Elena and Stefan know each other for a couple months and they get engaged with Katherine’s daylight ring… 🤦🏼‍♀️

Let me find something good to say about the book… the storyline was good. It kept my attention the whole time. Damon is good character and has some personality and character building behind him. The second book did leave off on a cliff hanger so I have bought the next book.

Genre:  YA Paranormal Romance
APK: Physical
Pages: 512
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Series or Standalone:  Books 1 and 2 of the series.

Having a plot that will inspire an amazing young adult series with a smoking hot protagonist (deviating dangerously from the main theme of my review but I just needed to say that. <3 Ian somererhalder) is just NOT ENOUGH! You seriously need to learn how to write a book about people more than 12 years old! The simplicity of the writing, for me, was at the least insulting! If I wanted to read trush I would buy them from a convenient store with cosmopolitan, not at a bookstore. For me, simply insulting to my intelligence. Oh, and I didn't even finish it!

To quote my inspiration, "Was it good? No. Was I thoroughly entertained? Yes."

I liked these books a lot more than I'd like to admit. First things first, if you expect them to be like the tv show, they are completely different. Besides being set in the same town and having the same characters and it being about vampires, the plot is totally different. I don't prefer one over the other. I do like Elena's character a lot more in the book (she's less annoying than the tv show) and I'm waiting to see how the love triangle plays out in the rest of the books. I think they're a fun, fluffy read for when you're in the right mood.

loved it. i really loved l.j.'s writing. i've already read most of the night world books and these were almost as good! i cannot wait until the series starts on the CW!

4/5 Stars It was nice!

I liked this book, I wasn't happy about Elena's character though... She was such a pretty princess who loved herself too much and that's what dropped my rating down a whole star.
I loved the story line though, that was fantastic. The writing was great too.
I'm still team Damon.

I only picked up this book/s because I promised myself that I'd reread books to see if I should keep them or not. Um, its a very hesitant 3/5 but if you go into this knowing its a romance first before anything else, I don't think you'll be too disappointed.
