I would classify this as a spicy romance based in Stockholm syndrome where the MMC happens to be in the mafia for his line of work - not nearly enough mafia business for my personal taste. Still interesting enough of a story to keep my attention

DNF. Too much sex. Not enough story.

It just kept on getting worse and worse. Even if one were to read this purely for the spice, there is truly significantly much better out there.

The hook up scenes were hot but I like a little plot with my smut. It’s hard to believe she’s a SA survivor and immediately goes into hooking up with Dante without any established trust or build up to their attraction. They pretty much start banging immediately. There’s no chemistry or character building. I like my smut as much as the next girl but I also want to like the characters.

3.5 ⭐️ - so the start of the book was decent, then it kinda lulled with too much back and forth and uneeded smut but then it picks back up with some twists and truth bombs that helped me like it a bit more. Overall, not too bad, not my fav but still decent. I kinda wanna read Lorenzo’s story but idk if it’ll be hella sad..

I don't think Sadie Kincaid can write a bad book. This has a dark male main character who is flawed and has baggage, alongside a female main character who has had trauma in her past and a difficult relationship with her brother. Their relationship starts with a power imbalance and mistakes are made by both of them. The main characters and other characters in this book are well formed and I really enjoyed the way the love story unfolded. There is some violence as you would expect from a mafia romance.
