This is a great series so far. The modern elements mixed with the otherworldliness can be so off putting, and so enticing! Romy is HILARIOUS, she makes a Game of Thrones reference that had me cackling. Zander ain’t half bad either, he’s got a lot on his shoulders. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!!

At first, I found this really slow going but as the story continued on, I found myself enjoying it more.
Romi went from one captive to another and then to another across different realms.
The magic system was interesting from sorcery (the casters) to vampires (the Elven) and the Fates.

Romi’s situation did become rather repetitive as did her inner thoughts but the storyline progressed nicely and I enjoyed it overall.

I am currently rearranging my favorite reads of 2021 & my all time favorites shelf to include this book. THAT IS HOW FUCKING GOOD IT IS. I was in a bit of a book slump for a while and now coming out of it, I decided to pick up A Fate of Wrath and Flame as its been sitting on my shelf and I was in a mood for a fantasy read. I am SO mad at myself for not reading this as soon as it was in my hands.

After a rough start in life, and stealing from the wrong person, Romeria finds herself work as a thief for a dangerous man in New York City. Until one day a woman, Sofie, shows up offering Romeria a job. All she has to do is retrieve a stone. When Sofie kills Romeria's boss, she has no choice but to accept the job. After Sofie stabs Romeria in the chest, she wakes up in a different place. A place that has 2 moons. She discovers that she is Princess Romeria of Ybaris who murdered the King and Queen of Islor, on the night she was to marry the Prince. She is taken by the newly crowned King Zander, and must find a way to survive as an enemy to all of Islor.

When I say that I have never read a fantasy book like this... I was completely captured from the moment I started reading. I loved how Romy was from NYC in 2020 and then sent to this other place that was medieval-eqsue. It sort of felt like time travel which was super fun to read about.

And talk about enemies to lovers. These two were ENEMIES. I felt so so bad for Zander. It's clear that he was completely smitten with Princess Romeria and her betrayal cut him deep. I loved the slow burn relationship that bloomed between Zander and Romy. There's nothing I love more than when there is build-up and angst in my romances and Zander and Romy had ALL THE ANGST AND BUILD-UP.

I am so unbelievably excited to see what book 2 has in store. That ending had me feeling so many freaking emotions.
