I generally don't mind a lot of world building but half of this book felt like reading a history book

Really interesting premise and I felt like the author did a great job introducing the world to us in the way she did. The characters were likable. The slow burn didn’t have much of a reward and tbh it seems like the next book will repeat a similar pattern which I think is tiresome. 

But…
not into the slavery aspect. Would have preferred some harder lines against it from the main characters.
