If you love world building this is the book for you! Little spice, enemies to lovers, slow burn, with a beautiful story and setting!

This was not what I expected, and I loved it. It starts in modern-day New York City before diving into a very intricate fantasy world with immortal beings, gods, and monsters. It's definitely more fantasy than romance. Super slow burn, with very little spice. There's lots of world-building, political intrigue, and history, as expected from the first book in a series. Definitely had to use every single one of my brain cells to get through all that info. I really enjoyed the story and loved all the characters, so I'm definitely going to binge-read the rest of the series.

Really really enjoyed this one, mostly for the fantastic political intrigue. The only downside, the heroine, like many fantasy romances is a total mary sue. I’d compare it to reading about Gandalf instead of Bilbo Baggins, and I prefer the latter. So 4 stars.

I’m on the third book, amazingly they haven’t lost steam because I haven’t skimmed once.

Listened to this book the second time around. I remember liking it, but I couldn't remember much of the story, let alone the character's names. I decided to read again when I realized I had preordered the third book but never got around to reading it. Now, I am listening through 1 and 2 so that I can read (maybe listen to?) the third. The fourth and final also came out Sept 2024, apparently, so I'll probably carry on to that as well unless it loses me along the way. The plot is enjoyable. I like the dive into the fantasy world's politics, even if it's a bit two-dimensional. While the writing is simple at times (or maybe the audiobook narrator makes me feel like it's simple?), I like the book, and I'm looking forward to listening through the rest of the series.

Lo abandono en la página 304 y todavía me estoy preguntando cómo es que he aguantado tanto leyéndolo. Es malo no, lo siguiente, y la traducción, todavía peor.
