This was hard to get through. Too many politics and not enough action. I’m hoping the next book picks up a little bit after all the world building because it is an interesting story. Both of the main characters are dry. That’s the best word I can use to describe them. Just dry.

An intriguing fantasy world with dynamic politics and unique magic intricacies.
Enjoyed this and continued immediately.
Loving the dynamic issues in the world Romi lands in.
So hopeful for the slow burn, betrayal of a romance.
A good listen. Curious if the physical book has a map

I was really intrigued by Romeria’s NYC pickpocket life, and although the shift to a magical realm made me blink at first, the mystery, fake‑dating trope, and slow‑burn with King Zander quickly pulled me in!
The world building was really interesting, as we got to learn about the world alongside our FMC which made it easy to follow, and I enjoyed discovering the world alongside her.
The fake‑marriage/fates‑forced combination is fun… although two beds? I protest! 😉
It’s not life‑changing, but it’s a great time. I’ll definitely read book two, though I might not rush to read the trilogy right away. The world building is intriguing, the vibe is strong, and that ending made me curious enough to stick around.

The premise of the overall story is very interesting however after the beginning part and settling into the word building, it feels like a big info dump that just goes on and on and really drags unnecessarily without a balance in plot. Unsure at this point if I will continue the series.

It's been a long time since I found a book the kept my gripping the book, ignoring everything else around me!

I loved the book and the world building, I loved the story and the characters. It was fun and I look forward to book 2.

My ONLY criticism? the hate-to-love could've lasted longer. it was "too quick" and "too easy" regardless of all that transpired I would think there would be a whole lot more mistrust and hatred going on here.... and that's why it lost a star. yes I am that mean...

Overall it was cute and fun to read.

Sexual Content: moderate/heavy
Language: moderate/heavy (really there wasn't much but out of nowhere there would be random F* bombs)
Violence: moderate
Drugs/Alcohol: moderate
LGBTQ: not that I recall
