I think this series is great! I read this when it was first released, and couldn't wait for her to write more! It is one of my favorite book series.

Drivel. Having watched the tv series, I'm reading the books to remind me of the long and complicated plot, and fill in any gaps, before I watch the last season. The world building, and the basic premise, are very good. But the writing is tedious, and the way the author revels in rape and violence is vile. The bookend story, set in 1968, was not bad, but the rest, set in 1845-46, could have been summarised in a page and we'd all be better off. The author and editor seem to have forgotten that the narrator is English, as the Americanisation of the tale is heavy. I was especially cross when the narrator used the wife of a 19th century American president as a reference point; it would be a bit weird if an American did that, but it's impossible for a non-American.

1968 – Claire and her daughter return to Scotland. Claire has secrets she’s kept for two decades and now she plans to tell her daughter everything.
1740s – Jamie and Claire are in the French capital hoping to gain enough information as they brush elbows with high society to stop the Jacobite uprising and the brutal Battle of Culloden.
I love Jamie and Claire so much. They respect each other and listen to each other and have so much love and passion for each other. I liked the setting of Paris and the high society they were mingling with. Definitely some funny and messy moments.

What Jamie and Claire went through after Claire chased Jamie down to the duel was so heartbreaking and then when they finally talked in the garden. Have the tissues ready.
Claire, Jamie and the whole waxing convo, especially Jamie’s response to a lady removing it all totally cracked me up. It was interesting have the grooming differences between the centuries brought to light in this way.
I love this series so much. This was a great continuation of Claire and Jamie’s story.

Extremely well written. The TV show follows the plot spot on, but the book is even better. On the edge of my seat even though I know what will happen.
