"Secrets in the Dark" by Darcy Coates is a gripping blend of horror, romance, end of times, and mystery that keeps you on edge and wanting to read more. The characters are well-developed and relatable, drawing readers into their struggles and triumphs. I love Winterbourne Hall and the story taking place there but, I ended up loving that we got to experience some of the rest of society and how it was affected. We also finally receive some of the anticipated answers as to what caused this world wide event to happen and how/why certain people turned into the dreadful hallows. Coates once again uses her masterful storytelling and seamless integration of different genres to make this book a must-read. I’m so engrossed into the Dorran and Clare survival and love story and I can’t wait to read books 3 and 4.
