I finally read it! Woo. It’s been on my “want to read” list on here since September 2012. It took me 9 years but I got around to it! When I first went to read this, I read the first two chapters and then just stopped for some random reason, literally couldn’t even tell you why.

I’ve listened to the audiobook for all the books so far and that’s definitely how I’ll always read these books I think. This one was really enjoyable. I’m glad things finally came to light in this one that we were aware of for awhile.

I found our new location to be very interesting. I thought everything happening was interesting. I was always gripped with it as well. Not driving to work all the time has seriously put a damper on my listening time so that’s really why now it takes me a lot longer to read audiobooks sadly.

All of these books have been interesting so far. Knowing now that I can finish mortal instruments or flip back and forth with the infernal devices is intriguing to me. I’m going to definitely research which I should do.

DEAR GOD I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS BOOK! EVERYTHING IS JUST PERFECT, I LOVE THESE CHARACTERS SOOOO SUCH! I almost don't want to carry on reading the rest of the series because everything is tied up so perfectly at the end of this one- although obviously I will ;D

So, book 3, Clary…

She really starts off on the wrong foot in this one. Honestly, she spends the whole book running on tantrum energy - just impulse after impulse, zero thinking. Stuff works out, but only because of pure moral luck, not because she’s clever or careful. And it really shows how little ethical integrity she’s got here, just barreling ahead with stubbornness and feelings instead of sense. Her character drove me nuts - and yeah, I wrote that note at the beginning, and sad to say, it stayed true for the whole book 😅. The one saving grace? People actually call her out for it this time. Izzy, Luke - they straight up tell her she’s acting like a kid throwing a tantrum, and I loved that someone finally said it.

Setting Clary aside, I had a good time with the rest. The action kept me hooked, though the whole
“maybe siblings??” drama gave me the ick all over again. Like, yes, I knew they weren’t, but they didn’t know -
which makes it just as uncomfortable as the first time.

Character-wise, this book had some really strong arcs. Simon, Izzy, Alec - all great. And Luke, as always, is a favorite.
Max’s fate… still sad. I was destroyed the first time I read it, so this reread hit a little lighter, but still ouch.

Overall, I’d say this one keeps the rereads on a solid track.

Finally finished rereading this one. Loved it almost as much as the first time.
