I love this young readers scary book series, and this was a great addition to the spooky group. It didn’t quite creep me out as much as #1 and #2, but it gave a little wilderness-scary to the group, which I appreciated. The cover made me think there might be some deep sea monster vibes, but it took a different turn. I think I wanted the book to go on a bit longer and drag out the scary a bit more? But a good addition, nonetheless.

This out of the 3 books was just an okay read for me. The book ends on a cliffhanger that I’m interested in, but I wasn’t drawn into the story this time, and wanted to feel more engaged, but wasn’t.

Well, this was quick. We are back with our protagonists in another creepy situation. This time they are stuck on an isolated island while a creepy creature haunts them.

This was a bit too short for me. The first two books were way stronger than this one. I do have a fondness for the group but I need more creepiness to actually like the book

Much like that lurking menace in the cover, I gobbled up this book in a span of a few hours.
I remember its predecessors being much longer so getting to the last page was such a surprise, I couldn't believe how short it seemed.
Then again, all books are short if you love them as much as I love Small Spaces.

The fourth book can't come fast enough.

Plus the focus on different seasons? That's an aesthetic bonus I LOVE LOVE LOVE.

I'm just so attached to these kids, you'll feel like you're one yourself when you're between this book's pages.
You might as well cover the mirrors tonight while you're at it, too.

Another fun installment to the Small Spaces quartet! Ollie, Coco, and Brian are still trying to defeat the Smiling Man and this time they encounter a lake monster who destroys their boat leading them to be shipwrecked on a deserted island that's hidden from the outside world. Is it all related?

This book wasn't quite as good for me as the last installment unfortunately. I still very much enjoyed it though! I enjoyed the horror of the monster in the lake and the setting was atmospheric as always. However, I didn't feel we got to see quite as much of the character's personalities in this one. Also, the Smiling Man isn't nearly as involved as he has been previously. This book ends on a cliffhanger unlike the past two books, so I need to close out this series and see how it will end!
