While browsing TikTok one day, it was the author herself who was recommending this book. When my local library had a copy, I borrowed it immediately.

What I loved about this book was grief, depression, and anxiety were explained and represented in this book.

Grief isn’t linear, and no one grieves in the same way.

The thing with grief is you need a support network, you can’t do it alone.

This was a lovely book, and I’m glad I came across it.

Sure it’s kinda predictable, finding love again after grief, but it was honest and refreshing, but mostly realistic.

A beautiful book about loss and grief. Lovely writing, charming in its complete and utter britishness. Certain tropes like the loud, unlucky-in-love friend felt a little tired but are often necessary in stories like this. Does take you on a journey, although at times I found it hard to believe that the characters really were not aware of certain things (other people’s/their own feelings, or even situations)

The Last Goodbye has a great storyline but is not attention-catching, where you have to keep going because you need to know what happens next. The story follows two people who have experienced great loss and connect serendipitously. Over the course of the story, they each help each other face the distortions through which they have been viewing life and begin to live again. I would recommend this book if you are looking for a good story with some tragic pieces but ultimately a happy ending.

This book gutted me. I don't know what I was expecting. I knew it was about grief and loss.
The cover made it look like a love story. The synopsis is accurate. But it's also inadequate. This book is just more. It's emotional and it has depth. It is raw. It is beautiful. By the end I was just sobbing. This is the kind of book that will stay with me for a long time. I don't even know what else to say because I don't want to give a single thing away. This is the kind of romance that keeps you engaged, surprises you, and leave you with all the feels. Buy it. Seriously.

The Last Goodbye - Fiona Lucas

“That’s the funny thing about the future, isn’t it? We have all these plans, some small, some grand. But things don’t always work out the way we expect them to.”

This book was very emotional. You feel the anger, frustration, and sadness of Anna. Anna is grief stricken from the loss of her husband, and just trying to survive.

I haven’t read something like this in a long time. Everyone’s path to healing is very different, and this book creates a beautiful picture.

Overall rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5 stars

Th e Last Goodbye will be released June 8, 2021.
