I have the time today to say what needs to be said. Firstly, it’s definitely my fault for taking interest in such a cookie cutter hallmark-ass book. And for what? Why did I think this was going to be anything other than a big fat cliche?

I was wrong to think this was going to be a substantial read when in reality, the whole book could be cut down 200 pages if they would just get to the point. Am I bitter? Probably, but almost everything I say has traces of satire anyways so who cares, toss caution to the wind like the author did with the plot of this book. What really throws me is that the FMC needed a man to dig her out of her 3 year grief induced hibernation, and beyond that, she was a complete IDIOT. A full blown pushover to anything that challenged her. Ugh and not to mention that almost every verse of dialogue was predictable. Nothing standout here, ever.

But anywaysss, hindsight is 20/20 and I will never again give a book like this a chance again in my life. someone had to be my worst book of 2024 and I would happily award it to the same book made me never want to hear the word grief again.

I had a lot of mixed emotions while reading this book. At first I hated how everyone was pushing Anna and telling her to move on but everyone came around in the end and I really appreciated their acknowledgment that they may have been caring in the wrong ways.

However what I couldn’t get over is that Brody, arguably the most messed up character in the entire book, was also the only healthy one!

Anna used Brody as a therapist. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. She even says at one point Brody listens in a way that none of her other family or friends could do. That’s because when it started Brody was a detached unbiased person who was able to look at her situation and talk her what he thought she needed to hear. Just like a therapist would.

Then Anna loved this therapist relationship so much that she decides to create an app to promote it…??? I don’t know I thought it was just a little odd.

I think the character development is great and grief is shown in a very cyclical manner instead of linear and for that I give it three stars. It’s written well and Brody was a compelling man but to be honest I could have done without Anna.

Thank you to Netgalley and publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This was a beautifully written story of grief and learning how to moving forward.
Losing someone you love can feel like being asked to live without your heart in your chest, and I felt this with Anna. I loved Anna and Brody's relationship. They were so good for each other, right from the beginning.
The meet cute is so adorable- and realistic! I could totally see this happening. I was also very happy with the anxiety representation.

Everything about this story warms my heart- Definitely looking forward to more from this author!

Really enjoyed this lovely story about Anna who became a young widow. She keeps calling her dead husbands mobile phone to hear his voice and one day someone answers, but the voice at the end of the phone has secrets of his own. Lovely ending to this one

Fiona Lucas you did it again. How are you able to write such bloody fantastic romance novels!? I exhibited such a high level of emotion that literally moved my heart. I was down-right panicking and those last 100 pages my hands were sweating gripping onto the book, desperate to find out how it ends. Fiona left me on the EDGE right up until the last page until love found its beautiful end and my heart finally released and I could calm down and collect myself from the roller coaster of emotions I was experiencing
