This is the first book in a new-to-me series, the Timber Valley Pack. It starts with Josephine coming up with an idea to stand in for her friend, courtesy of a shape-changing spell so that her friend doesn't have to marry someone she's not in love with. The reasons are all there, but you know it just won't work out how she thinks it will.
Now, I really enjoyed this book for the majority of the time. If the story had just stayed with the abusive uncle and how the Timber Valley Pack were trying to sort it out, this would have been a 4-star read for sure. However, there was an extra storyline thrown in, just for fits and giggles it seemed. With no build-up that stood out for this particular fork in the story, it just felt a bit thrown together. I found that to be a shame as up to that point I was engrossed.
Well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to distract the eye, this was a good read that just ended up being a bit too busy for me.

This was beyond terrible. The heroine was stupid and the hero was a jerk with no redeeming qualities. Finding a BBW attractive is not enough to make a character worthwhile. As a plot mechanism the hero unnecessarily keeps something from the heroine using an amazingly flimsy excuse. The situation could have been cleared up enough with a simple, but vague explanation and it would have spared her a lot of grief. These are just the first few reasons I hated this book.
