My mom read this to me every night growing up; that's how much I loved this book.
Until I picked up this book, I always wondered about the origin of "I love you to the moon and back." It had always seemed overly sentimental and unoriginal to me. Now, having picked up and read this children's classic, I understand and will be reading this book to my future children.
Why is the adult constantly trying to one-up the child?
This is a true, tender children's classic I was eager to share with my daughter, and although she enjoys it when I read it to her, it has not been among her most requested books. I believe I am more enamored of it than she.

On one hand, this would be the perfect book a dad can read to his son/daughter. On the other hand, it's really competitive.
