Very interesting to see the origin of Thanos and to know why he is the way he is. Let him be a lesson to all parents out there.... love your kids so they don't turn into sociopaths set out to destroy life as we know it!

Thanos was an amazing villain in the Marvel movies so when I found that there is an origin to Thanos as a character, I had to check it out.

I really enjoyed this fast read graphic novel. I think that his origin story was very unique and there were times (especially at the beginning) where my heart tugged for him. Young Thanos was such a cinnamon roll and so pure and innocent but one event changed everything.

When that specific thing happened, he started to get dark and it was interesting to delve deeper into his twisted mind. He could have gone a better route but he didn’t (that’s why he is a villain).

There was another character who was mysterious throughout the story and influenced (bad influence) the way Thanos handled in every situation.

My only complaint is that the story went on too quickly and I wished that we got more time to see him gradually turn evil. Other than that, great origin story and I highly recommend it if you want to know more about the character.

Solid 4 star rating from me.

After watching Avengers: Infinity War this past weekend I wanted to know more about this fascinating and terrifyingly villain, and this graphic novel did not disappoint. It’s a great introduction to the character, his past, and what drives him to do what he does. His motives and what happened to Titan are different than the movie, but the character is still as insane and delusional as ever. Absolutely worth a read!

As a newborn, Thanos was almost killed by his mother, who believed he was an abomination. That's one of those things where you think "Holy crap, should I feel sorry for her because she knew the monster her son was going to become and but isn't taken seriously because he's only a few minutes old, or should I feel sorry for baby Thanos because he's a baby and his mom is seemingly battling postpartum depression as soon as he left the womb and tried to stab him to death?" We all know the terror that Thanos grew up to be, but this mini-series takes a look into what transformed him into the Mad Titan.

Thanos didn't start out evil at all. The book shows that he was a normal, introverted student, almost a geek. Ostracized over his looks, ignored by his workaholic father, Thanos finds solace in a friend that eventually leads him down the path to become one of the most hated villains in cinema of the last few years. We learn what made Thanos tick, who he felt to impress, and why he ultimately still felt like a failure.

Story wise, if you're coming to this as a newer Marvel fan, you probably will learn a few things about Thanos that wasn't explained in the MCU films, which is fine. If you're an older fan, nothing in this series will feel too different. We still learn about Thanos' obsession, and the reason why he kills. The art style is great, but the story does feel to be a bit lacking in some ways. Retelling stories can be tricky, but sometimes they're done very well. This one didn't have the best transition that I would've liked to have seen, but it's still a decent read.
