This was a really excellent, well researched book. I enjoyed the book all the more because it is based on real historical incidents and figures - sort of reminded me of Erik Larson's "Devil in the White City". This illustrations are intricate and deliberate, I spent so much time pouring over each page so that I didn't miss anything. I also enjoyed the inclusion of so much poetry, I don't know that I've ever felt so inspired to read Dante! I worthwhile read for anyone - even those that don't think that they enjoy graphic novels ;)

Sometimes I think I should learn Braille just in case. Like, it'd be much easier to learn while I had my sight, right?

But then it goes in the pile of other stuff I "should" do, aka the pile of stuff I'll never do.

I mean, I can't even speak Spanish. That'd probably be more practical than Braille at the moment.

Do you think it's weird that bathroom signs and such have Braille? How do people locate those tiny pieces of Braille on a giant wall?

Okay, I just looked it up: there's a standard location, based on doorframes, for signage in Braille. So I guess it's possible to find.

Huh.

There's this book called Care and Feeding of the Long White Cane all about getting used to navigating with a cane...might have to check it out.

Oh my gosh I love this book. It is a mix of compelling story telling with fantasy illustrations. This book is so unique and the fact that it is a true story is mind blowing. Would recommend a thousand time over.
