I picked this novel up on a whim at my local Library store for a dollar.
This was my first Lisa Gardner book ( I'm pretty sure, I know I own others but I haven't read them yet), but it will not be my last. Honestly, I didn't even know it was a part of an insanely long series. I saw the cover, and the name and thought this sounded intriguing and just picked it up. And I'm glad I did that because I was not disappointed by the story or the characters.
If I had known this was part of a series, I probably would not have purchased because I would have wanted to start out at the beginning.
At times I felt Sharlah was way older than her character was at 13. However, with all the trauma and trial that she went through, it makes sense.
Who Am I -- Telly was a complex character that I enjoyed reading from. The twists that this novel took was very exciting and kept me guessing which I really enjoyed. I liked that we switched perspectives with characters on their journey to Telly and stop the murders, I felt like that really helped round out the stories but also include ideas of what could happen next and what the motive of all this really is.
And of course Luka. I love animals and seeing the connection this doggo had with everyone was really special. I will definitely read more from Lisa Gardner.

A decent read, I enjoyed it but didn't LOVE it.
The characters were fun and easy to connect with. The plot was somewhat interesting, though I found that I wanted it to be a little twistier and more unconventional.
Overall, this book was fine and good for someone who likes thrillers, but I definitely wouldn't read it again.

Another magnificent read by the amazing Lisa Gardner!!! I read this book in one day because I couldn't put it down. Kept me guessing at every turn which is exactly what I want in a thriller. So happy she decided to bring back Quincy and Rainie because I loved them as a couple and was happy to get a peek at their lives again.
This book dragged a little bit, but I really enjoyed it! It was just a basic, nice, cleanly wrapped up murder mystery and I'm here for it.

It was an okay book. It wasn't a book I would say WOWed me. It could have been a lot better. There were a lot of parts that could have been taken out and the story could have been better. First book by this author and probably my last.

I liked this book. I love the characters of Quincy and Rainie and would read any book they were a part of. I thought the kids and their story was heartbreaking and I loved the way Sharlah's story intertwined with Rainie's back story and how Sharlah has been brought into the family. I liked the ending, was glad that Telly was innocent at the end.
This was my first Lisa Gardner book so I didn't know what to expect. I had just finished a Shari Lapena thriller so going into this thinking thriller but getting more detective novel threw me off a bit. It's a good book, well written, interesting and full of twists, but honestly it's just not my kind of book. I would read more of her novels but would have to be in the mood for Criminal Minds vibes rather than horror movie.
