“Ensuring her happiness was becoming essential to his own. She was strong and proud and beautiful, and he wanted more than anything in the world to call her his wife.” —Joshua Fielding

“Her own emotions were in a turmoil, but one thing she knew now was that she would never forget this dear, dear man who had somehow managed to make her fall in love with him.” —Poppy Delamare

Yes, indeed, the series is becoming increasingly better. I'd be happy to say that this is my favorite installment so far, despite how much I enjoyed the first and second. I dare say that I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like this book. At this point, the romance and the idea that women have few options in life are much more well balanced.

Poppy appeared like a powerful heroine in a historical romance since she was uncompromising, which is why I thought she was such a great character. I also love how Langham treated her with respect and didn't appear to limit her because of it. They had a lot of chemistry and excellent banter, which led to some intense sequences that left you spellbound. I genuinely like a couple who genuinely adore one another, have a great chemistry, grow together, and are able to communicate well.

As they discover a secret society, the mystery deepens. The mystery itself had a great pace and was really captivating. Sometimes you can predict the most likely response, and it comes to pass. There are also times when you get a hint as to where it might go, but Manda Collins snubs that and sets up a more dramatic and significant revelation. Not to mention the moment Poppy was reunited with Kate and Caro, who encouraged her regarding her current circumstances with Langham in along with discussing the murder mystery that troubles the town. The fact that Eversham and Val were teaching Joshua to feel comfortable approaching them for assistance with women's problems since they had dealt with independent women before was also oddly comical.

All things considered, I enjoyed reading this book. This was an enjoyable, unique, well-written novel that I believe anyone can read. The main characters have excellent chemistry, and the language isn't too difficult, even for those who aren't familiar with historical literature. However, there isn't much hint of Jane and Adrian's interaction in this book. I'm still anticipating the author's next revelation regarding this series. But, yes, I'll go straight to read A Governess's Guide to Passion and Peril after this💥🏃🏻‍♀️

This book was a fast and exhilarating read. I liked the murder mystery plot. The characters poppy and Joshua had wonderful chemistry and I truly enjoyed them together.

Poppy Delamere has been hiding as 'Frida Deever', fact-checker for the newspaper column A Ladies Guide To Mischief and Mayhem. When her sister is accused of murder she has to flee home to see her.

Lord Langham is a duke and doesn't wanna be bothered by the ladies so he asks Poppy to pose as his fake fiance. Pretty standard duke behavior.

The 2 join forces to figure out what happened to Poppy's sister.

First off, I super enjoyed this book. I went in expecting one thing and came out satisfied. All of Manda's books are "Nancy Drew meets Jane Austen with kissing" and that is 100% the case here.

The banter between these 2 characters had me all smiles the first half of the book. The scenes with his family and Poppy holding her own were marvelous and extremely satisfying.

The second half of the book is where the book lost a star for me. The story shifts almost completely to solving what happened with her sister that it's almost like the chemistry between them dropped. HOWEVER, the use of hand holding in this book GOT ME. Casual walking around hand holding is so rare in histroms (so weirdly) and it was all over the place here. It was rather sweet.

All in all I really liked it. Would def recommend to a friend but would tell them to start from the first book.
