Each book in this series is more incredible than the previous. Bromberg raises the bar with each story making them even more refreshing, captivating and beautiful. She has a way of sweeping me up into her stories and making me care for her rich and complex characters that are so vivid and real. Hard to Lose is a fun, touching, and completely engrossing love story and Chase and Gunner are magical!
Chase suddenly receives a letter that was mailed to her family sports management company 5 years earlier. She is completely captivated by this 'baseball player turned soldier', who sent it. Since it is coming up on the anniversary of losing her mother, she needs to get away, and what better distraction than to find this mystery man.
Gunner used baseball to find peace and comfort after losing his father, and he was extremely talented. But his homelife was heartbreaking, so he joined the armed services instead of playing professional ball. When he is sent over seas, he realizes he will never be the same and lets go of his baseball dreams. He is a civilian now and found a new calling and passion. He never thought he could open himself up to love until a beautiful city girl walks into his bar and takes his breath away. Chase and Gunner have an instant attraction and without reason begin a passionate affair. They have fun together, and teach each other how to let go and really live again. The more time they spend together, the more their hearts open up to the possibility of more together. But neither really knew who the other was at first, and as secrets come to light, will their love be strong enough to forgive the other? Omg I absolutely loved Gunner and Chase together! They helped each other heal, grow stronger, find peace, and learn to give themselves fully to love. They are so perfect together, and have a soul deep passion and love. I also loved catching up with Chases family and meeting Gunner's close friends who are all protective, loyal, and unconditionally supportive. I absolutely loved everything about this irresistibly fun, emotional, breathtaking and sizzling romance.

Bromberg helped me find that piece of heart I never knew was missing. Hard to Lose breaks every rule emotion tells us to follow. Chase and Gunner give the soul something to believe in. From missed chances, little white lies and heartbreaking dreams, love some how finds it's way. Through the eyes of unfulfilled hearts comes a reason to hope. A captivating sentiment that stays with you even after you've reached the journey's end.
A very sweet and heart-warming book.
Gunner is absolutely adorable. What a great guy, despite all the challenges he has been through.
Chase really changes throughout this book and it's not because of anything Gunner does intentionally, just because of who they become together. They find different parts of themselves that work really well together.
I really loved this book.

Spoiler
I really expected that he would go back to playing baseball, but not everything was set right in the end. They got their happy ending and a very optimistic future together and with his business, but the sports dream really was done. That was surprising, but a very authentic and honest way to write the story. I love ti when there is happiness, but not necessarily perfection at the end.Chase really changes throughout this book and it's not because of anything Gunner does intentionally, just because of who they become together. I really loved this book.
This is the fourth book of the series and loved it like the previous ones, but this one has something else to make me like it more. Chase and Gunner, are two different characters, with different point of views, yet they have things in common that truly works for them. There are secrets and intriguing things that will have you reading non-stop. Their chemistry like all of K Bromberg's books is off the charts. The story plotline was amazing, I went in blind and was surprised with it all. Chase was one of the characters whose story I really wanted to read, she was the most mysterious of them all, and Gunner was a swoony book boyfriend. I would recommend the whole series, the audiobooks are fantastic so if you like hearing the stories go for them.

Well, it's happened. I have read my most favorite K. Bromberg book of all, and that's saying something, given my rekindled love for Kristy and her writing. Yep, Gunner and Chase totally owned me, and I have nothing but love for their story, HARD TO LOSE.
I read a lot of books, and there are plenty that I really like, and that stay with me, and among them there are the ones that dazzle me, that just really resonate for one reason or another. When it comes time for my yearly list of 'Favorite Reads,' it's not so hard to pull one together, because they are the books that I am still thinking about long after I've read them. When I make the list for this year, there's no doubt that HARD TO LOSE will be on it, because I am so in love with this book.
Ryan 'Gunner' Camden stole my heart in every single way, not the least of which is the way that he loved Chase Kinkade. For someone that has experienced so much pain and loss, his heart, whether he believes it or not, is wide open, and full of so much love and care for others. And for Chase, driven, self-sufficient, successful Chase, Gunner is just the person that she needs, whether she knows it or not. The two of them together smooth out all of the broken, jagged edges, and make the most beautiful whole.
Look, I could obviously go on and on, because this book touched me very much. I have loved the whole Play Hard series, but this book is the one. It's sexy and sweet and redemptive and healing, and I recommend it wholeheartedly. Do yourself a favor and make this a must-read-soon addition to your TBR. ❤️
Chase and Gunner were AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chase the youngest of the sisters and goal oriented didn’t believe in relationships. Especially after her ex cheated on her. When she sets out to look for the ex baseball player turned war hero she didn’t expect to meet the love of her life. When Chase walked into his bar Gunner was immediately smitten with the stunning brunette. His entire small town was aware of the outsider and the immediate affect on him. They were rooting for them. Things just clocked between them until they realized that they had fallen head over heels for each other. But Chase stay in the small town was temporary but there was a major twist that placed a hole in their relationship. They were both heartbroken and Gunner felt deceived but his heart was with Chase. Chase couldn’t stop thinking of him. There’s so much but I can’t spoil because you need to read how these two came to be was so damn beautiful. They’re reconciliation was heartwarming and they were definitely soulmates. And the epilogues?! Grab some tissues.
I know it's a Kristi Bromberg book if I end up crying near the end before we get to the Happily Ever After. Once again I was not disappointed.
Chase Kincade is an overachieving, no nonsense, no relationship type of woman. She finds a letter that was lost in the mail for 5 years and sets off to find the college baseball star who gave up the chance at a career for the army. Gunner is a war damaged vet who bought a bar after he left the service and uses it to help families of dead soldiers.
Chase comes to town looking for Ryan Camden not knowing that the the bartender she is getting to know is the one she is looking for. Can love grow when the two people have secrets? Can two people from different worlds find a way to be together?
As the series finale this is a fitting end to the whole series.

“Love isn’t something you set out to achieve. It’s something that happens unexpectedly.”
I... did not like this. The FMC was so unlikable, I just couldn't with her, and the relationship felt so insta-love/rushed with a very forced chemistry. And to make matters worse, she's been lying to him and deceiving him the entirety of the book and somehow he's the one who chased after her while she didn't make the slightest effort to get him back.. please make it make sense. Not to mention the proposal during Brexton and Drew's (aka the best couple in this series') wedding, talk about adding insult to injury..
Anyway, this wasn't a great "end" to this series, and I say end because I'm just not about to read a book about a guy who literally breathes misogyny, slutshamed one sister and cheated on the other.. I genuinely do not understand why he's even getting a book..
