The world had so much potential dark vibes, dragon eggs, thieves, danger… I was into it. But the writing felt a bit too basic for me. The dialogue didn’t always land, the pacing was uneven, and the romance didn’t fully click.
Still, it was entertaining enough to finish. Just not something I’d rush to reread.

I give this extra points for keeping my attention when books just aren’t doing that for me right now !
It’s super easy to follow, there’s not massive world building which I appreciated but also I do think some inconsistencies might annoy people.
I loved the dragon story line and the magic system.
Some of the communication or lack of bugged me but it did fit in with the story, it’s not exactly enemies to lovers , yes they are from different sides but the barely disliked each other it was for like 2 pages ! But the lack of trust lingers and with it being two povwe know the truth when the characters don’t and makes it frustrating
I’ll definitely continue the world I think from the ending it might be another charters story in the next book ?

I didn't love this one. I've read a lot of Karina Halle's book and this one was a miss for me. I enjoyed the first part of the book but around the halfway point it started to lose steam for me
I never got fully invested in Andor or Brynla they were both just okay. I also felt like their relationship was too instalove for my liking. They went from meh about each other to bam I want to sleep with you and you are my world
As far as the plot goes I felt like there was some good points but it needed to be fleshed out more. Everything felt so rushed and resolved so quickly
Overall I'll probably end up checking out the next one in the series since I typically like/love Halle's books

The premise sounded cool and the prologue intrigued me. But there's something keeping me from connecting to the story and I'm not sure what it is. But we're half way through and I'm not sure what the main conflict is.
The romance is also falling flat for me. The MCs are meh and I don't feel any yearning or tension.

My favourite part about the story was that this fantasy world felt so unique to me. The dragon eggs and the magic, loved it. This is also a standalone, so it has what I consider a happy ending. Read this if you love a fantasy that focuses on romance.
