The story was good but I think i struggled alot with understanding what was going on because of the fact that this was written god knows how long ago. Also despised the fact that Gilgamesh scorned a goddess but worshiped a god- implying that even within his mythical faith, he wanted patriarchy to prevail. Still loved the concept of no one being able to escape mortality- as its inevitable- but not fully since humankind will always live on. also gilgamesh and enkidu's relationship was definitely...something.

i cried. Its just so beautiful to think this ancient story about humanity and life and death and friendship and love can imapct me this much right now. To think that people in mesopotamia where telling this story so long ago and that it resonates with me in the present, the way art transcends all ilusions of time is just so special to me.

How does one even start to evaluate the narrative that initiated it all?

I find it challenging to assess The Epic of Gilgamesh in any traditional manner. It is a narrative that encompasses a variety of themes:friendship, love, mortality, and the human experience. As I engage with it in 2025, I cannot help but contemplate the evolution of storytelling and yet, how much of it has remained unchanged.

The narrative also poses significant inquiries. Is the Bible merely a compilation of ancient tales transmitted through the ages? Or did it directly derive from stories such as Gilgamesh? The resemblances are difficult to overlook, prompting me to ponder the extent to which our earliest narratives are interconnected.

Regardless, this epic continues to be an intriguing and essential work of literature. It is certainly deserving of attention, even after millennia.
