this was a required reading as part of my seminar class, "what can the dead teach the living?" it felt like madeline miller's "the song of achilles", just not as beautifully written (or heartbreaking). my professor referred to this as one of the first depictions of "bromance" and i just can't let that go. there's no way gilgamesh and enkidu weren't in love!!! what i found to be interesting is that this is found to be one of the earliest forms of literature.
