Now now, you would think this book having some of my favourite tropes - marriage of convenience + brother's bestfriend (mixed in a very wild context) would have me eating it up. I was fully prepared to but after the description of the FMC justifying that the MMC didn't recognise was due to a super massive glow up was well, uncomfortable to say the least.

Like I get people physically change, but not even with her face, 3 things question and nickname could the MMC figure out who she was??? C'mon. It also felt like the relationship you had in highschool, the MMC was hot-cold every other chapter and the FMC drowning in her insecurities (tbh I would be too girl). He makes it so obvious that it's purely physical and sorta mistreats her. She on the other hand, leans into the self-deprecation and decides that to the only way to "help" and "appreciate" him is to fulfil their agreement by letting him use her.

Adding on the fact that he basically became an obsessed stalker towards the end in a plot to win her back? (cue Joe Goldberg) And only wanted to talk to her because she was potentially seeing someone that he couldn't verify about. Overall this book gave me a bit of an ick.

Thank you, but no thank you, next.

I thoroughly enjoy marriage of convenience novels, and having read several books by Catharina Maura, "Forever After All" stands out as my favorite. Elena exemplifies unconditional love beautifully. The story takes unexpected twists and turns, keeping me engaged throughout. As the plot unfolds, the characters, their stories, and journey become captivating. Despite the challenges, Elena and Alexander are drawn to each other, and after overcoming numerous obstacles, they achieve the happily-ever-after they chose for themselves.

"She's a classic beauty, unlike the plastic girls I'm usually surrounded with."
"Every other woman I speak to is after something, but not Diana."
lmao this book gave off so much not like other girls energy, and that, combined with the characters and most of the dialogue, felt weird to me.

decided to read this because of booktok and I no longer trust booktok, lol. basically skimmed through the book because it got so repetitive and cheesy. :<

3.5/5. a cute simple marriage of convenience. loved reading it although everything couldve been solved if alec just confessed to everything but ykw thats ok. i liked elena and how she'd do anything but i wish there was a part where she rekindled her relationship with her sister elise or her dad bc that once scene i could tell he really wanted to give her the money. bonus epilogue or chapter was really cute. i wish their was like a scene where he saw her giving birth. anwuay ya quick read

This book was pretty good. The end almost made me cry because it reminded me to twilight. So good. The ending truly made this book for me. The end seem to drag because of the begging the man had to do to make up for everything. Sadly the begging is what ruined this book for me. I really liked it up to that point. It was going good but then their was a whole bunch of time jumps and then growing a pair wasn’t written the best. Also the way she got him back was a little weird and again the time jump was a little weird but also appreciated. Truly if the begging was better written this would be 4 stars. Also because the ending is so good I’m going to add a little bit to the stars. So 3.75/4
