Very good. Not quite as good as ham in rye but the author manages to maintain a voice and pace that (once you embrace the chaos) really manages to convey the stream of consciousness going on with the protagonist. At times deep, but mostly shallow, Mr. Chinaski really gets th>s nihilistic kafkaesque vibe going and I very much so enjoy it.
This book was entertaining and gives you a look into what you hope isn't the life of most postal service workers. I probably wouldn't recommend this to people who don't want to read about crude topics, but it was entertaining anyway.
Sometimes you just need to return to the classics...
"It began as a mistake." Bukowski's classic, seething with nihilism yet at the same time strangely optimistic.
Liked it better than other Bukowski fiction I'd read, as it avoided too much of the going on and on about the same subject matters. But in the end, it is all the same stuff from him...booze, one night stands, race tracks, complaining. This one just had postal stories thrown in, too.
