Fast paced and a lot of action this book will keep you reading till it's exciting conclusion. I would like to thank Net Galley for sending me an advanced copy. A great read.

Thanks to Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

In San Francisco’s seamy Tenderloin district, a teenage street hustler has been murdered in a shelter for boys. And the dedicated priest who runs the struggling home stands accused. But despite damning evidence that he’s a killer—and worse—Father Thomas Martin stands by his innocence. And attorney Peter Donley stands with him.

For three years Donley has cut his legal teeth in his uncle’s tiny, no-frills firm, where people come before profits. Just as Donley is poised to move on to a lucrative dream job, the shocking case lands in his lap, and he must put his future on hold while putting his courtroom skills to the test. But a ruthless DA seeking headlines and a brutal homicide cop bent on vengeance have their own agendas. Now, as he unearths the dirty secrets surrounding the case, Donley must risk his neck to save his client’s life…and expose the face of true evil.

I have read some of Robert Dugoni's Tracey Crosswhite series and I enjoy his style of writing. This is a stand alone legal thriller set in 1987 but I think it could have been updated quite easily to the present time without many changes to the storyline.

While the novel is a bit predictable in places, there is plenty of action to keep your interest alive. It is a quick paced storyline and it's easy to read, but the ending is not a surprise and it definitely isn't up to his usual standard. Worth a read though if you like legal thrillers.

I love it when I find an author whose books I can't wait to read. The 7th Canon is the first book by Robert Dugoni that I have read and all of his other books are now on my 'To Be Read' List. Anyone who enjoys legal thrillers by John Grisham and John Lescroart will be enthralled by The 7th Canon. It is a well written, fast paced novel with strong and interesting characters. Highly recommended.
Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC.

This novel started off with a bang, but then the story began to kind of dwindle as it seemed to slow down. I am still not sure how I feel about the ending but overall this was a good mystery.

***I received an eARC from NETGALLEY***

I really enjoyed this. Just uh... don't read it at bedtime. It becomes impossible to put down, and had this lady's 10pm bedtime pushed back to after 1am by the time my heart stopped racing.

I loved this legal thriller set in the gritty tenderloin district. You saw the best and worst of men in this fantastic read. I could not put it down. The case was enthralling and the action/danger seemed real and close to home. I recommend this book highly. Thanks to NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my review.

Pros
+ I love legal thrillers where the main character is a defense attorney rather than a prosecutor.
+ Excellent use of multiple POVs

Cons
- Repeated comments from the main character and others that the media is too harsh on the Catholic Church and priests. Felt like the author had an axe to grind and was roping the reader into it.
- The case against Father Thomas Martin never really seems solid so his exoneration felt too easy.
