I liked the first one, but this one was more ehh. I don't like the possibility of Isla being mated to Matthias and Rian, and what's her relationship with Alistar?? Who completely sucks by the way. He just mooched off of Isla and then turns into a crying weepy baby because his crappy ex sold her when he got into a contract just to have her turned behind her back so HE wouldn't be alone for the rest of his life... and then goes and spends $2k of HER money on drugs... She should drop him as a friend in my opinion. And the fact that they could all he weirdly tied together??
I like her four mates and honestly hope she just stays with just them. The other three could have been taken out of the story and I think I would have enjoyed it a more.

The first book in this series ripped Isla away from everything she knew. Now we get to find out how she is coping. Amazing world building in the first book allows us to really sink into this realm she finds herself living in. Isla's four mates are amazing, even though there is a huge language barrier. I loved reading about their relationships developing and growing. I also love how we get to see Alistair and his two mates, who also might be Isla's mates as well, trying desperately to find her. I can't wait for the finale to this series, the anticipation is very sweet!

Willow has yet to write a book that I didn’t absolutely love, and this one is no different.
The books starts off replaying events but from the POV from Her three guys left in NYC. You get to delve deeper into who they are and even their own insecurities. Alistair is such a complex character that I both love, but also want to smack sense into him.
We also got to delve deeper into her Guardians, and god I love them so much. They are also so unique, loving, and just absolute sweetness when it come to Isla. Isla grows as well, showing more of her fierce and loyal sides.
There’s so much plot in this and it’s not at all sacrificed by the heat she gives us in the story. And there is some HEAT!
I will warn you, Willow left us with a cliffhanger and it’s a doozy. But it’s absolutely another amazing story of hers.

Idk if this was better than the first one. Literally NOTHING new happened with Isla and the guys.
I thought that at least she would be able to communicate with them in this book but it was more of the same.
About the other povs with Allistair and the other two, I feel like their relationship as mates needs a LOT of work bc they literally haven't been able to spend time knowing each other or anything. Also the fact that all his povs were in the span of like a day when in the Isla's pov she already has like three months there is kinda weird.
I just want to see interactions with Isla and the guys were she ACTUALLY can talk to them, and want Allistair and the guys to finally find Isla so they can focus on their relationship.

Good: The plot really developed in this book and could go so many ways in the future.
Bad: The first third of the book is Alistair's POV of the party before Isla gets kidnapped. While it was interesting to hear his point of view and it explained a few things, I was waiting for it pick up where it left off from the first book. That and I didn't understand the mate bonds between Alistair, Isla, Rain, and Matthieu. Like I could see Alistair and Rain, and Isla and Matthieu both no other combination.
Can't wait for the next one.

Oof. She really does like to ramp it up and then just close the door right when you get to it. Anyway. Good book! I won an ARC of this book and I was so pleased to be able to read it and love it. I had stumbled upon the first book and then panicked upon realizing it was not a stand-alone and was part of a series that was unfinished. Whatcha gonna do.
