I love Lucinda Berry’s writing style. I wouldn’t classify this as a thriller, more of a story about abuse, survival, and stockholm syndrome.
The book is written with two POV, and alternating between then and now. The story focuses on two main characters who were kidnapped and then what happened after they escaped.
As always the author takes on difficult scenarios and check trigger warnings before reading.

This book started off like a psychological thriller and had me gripped but then slipped into just a sad story. I feel it portrayed trauma very well & I appreciated the short chapters and dual POV but there were no twists, no turns & very minimal character development. Certainly not a thriller.

What a book by Lucinda Berry. This book made me feel like I was watching an episode of SVU, mixed with criminal minds. The topics were heavy in the book and some parts had me cringing and other parts I was in such disgust. Definitely recommend her books, but definitely check the topics before reading if you need to.
