What a book by Lucinda Berry. This book made me feel like I was watching an episode of SVU, mixed with criminal minds. The topics were heavy in the book and some parts had me cringing and other parts I was in such disgust. Definitely recommend her books, but definitely check the topics before reading if you need to.

The coat hanger scene will stick with me for the rest of my life.
For such a horrific story, it was so realistically beautifully done, the girls almost felt like real people.
Morbid curiosity had me wanting more backstory on John, why he was the way he was, or the reasons but this was never about John.
It took me longer to finish than usual because the topics were so awful, but it was well worth the read and I’ll be reading more of her work!

This was an incredibly heavy read and was difficult to get through. I knew that it would be having read the synopsis, but still I didn’t realize just how disturbed and sad this would make me feel. Knowing that these types of horrors happen in real life makes me feel angry and sick to my stomach. It’s hard to give this book a rating due the nature of its content, but it was well written and the characters’ thoughts and emotions were palpable and felt so real.

This book is a psychological thriller that takes you deep into the mind of young girls who are taken at an impactful moment in life. You get to understand why they are who they are and what they had to do to survive. It was a great read and really made me think about what I would have done in these situations and to better understand why they are who they are.
