This was a solid three star book. It didn't live up to the hype. I was expecting to be blown away, but as it goes too many times to count, it wasn't the case.
The story revolves around three teenage girls who were kidnapped and are trapped in a sadistic fucks basement. Sarah has been there the longest and has the most "privileges." Paige has been there longer than Ella - his newest victim. Paige bonds with Ella and tries to comfort her and gently let her know what to expect. Sarah couldn't be more annoyed by the other girls. If they would just get in line, stop screaming and crying and begging, it'd be better for everyone.
The chapters rotate to their time with their captor and the after. The hospital stay due to injuries sustained in their escape. Ella is broken. She has lost all hope in everything. Sarah is pissed. She knows John will hunt her until she's back in his grip.
The book has short chapters and enough suspense to propel you through the pages. I did find myself at times, leaving it for a bit and coming back. I wasn't compelled enough to fly through it. Overall, it's a good read, and most thriller readers will enjoy it.

I don’t really have any words to put together to express how I felt about this book. It was gut wrenching and raw and so hard to digest but so important. I wanted to hug these girls so badly. I cried with them. It is written so beautifully with so much respect and insight regarding victims. There is no greater fear in the world and I just cannot imagine. I loved every bit of it, but it severely effected me.
