Summer 1935 finds Matt & Kitty enjoying a belated honeymoon visiting Matt’s Aunt Effie in the rolling Yorkshire hills. The couple attend the village fair. But when Kitty persuades Matt to visit the fortune teller’s tent, the lovebirds are shocked to find the body of Madame Zaza slumped over her crystal ball, pearl necklace askew and a half-drunk cup of tea at her elbow. Kitty soon feels like half the village had a motive for murder.
The thirteenth outing for Kitty & Matt & another delightful cosy mystery. It could easily be read on its own but I’ve loved seeing how Matt & Kitty’s relationship has grown & they are now happily married. They are both strong characters & bring out the best in each other. I was engrossed in the mystery & guessed who the murderer was but not the reasons for the murders, yes there’s more than one. Another fun, entertaining murder mystery with plenty of twists & turns, roll on number fourteen
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I so hoped this one would be a return to the groove for this series, but not for me. I will be taking a break from this series for a while. The death and resolution was predictable and brutal. It just didn't feel cosy for me. The two leads don’t have the chemistry they had before and the lovely townspeople are missing as the mystery is away from home

Goes to show that you may think you know who the murder is but it might change. Love these books and the whole series.

Away with her new husband, Matt, Kitty Underhay happens upon yet another body. This was to be a nice getaway for them, as they are actually honeymooning and visiting his family. Although she would rather leave the police to it, Kitty can’t leave things as they are, and wait for the them to discover who the murderer was. As an accomplished amateur sleuth, she does what she can to identify the cause of the woman’s murder, and who the responsible party is.
Kitty is a delightful character and I am so glad she has married Matt. As the setting is in the 1930s, the time period is enjoyable as well. This cozy mystery series has been enjoyable from the start and I love how Kitty proves so adept at solving murders.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Kitty Underhay is now more known as Mrs Kitty Bryant and along with her new husband, Matt and their faithful dog, Bertie have travelled to Yorkshire for a summer break and a bit of a honeymoon. Surely murder will not follow them and they can have a well deserved rest?
Of course if that was the case there wouldn’t be a book. Kitty and Matt discover the body of the fortune teller at the local Village Fair, seemingly poisoned by something in her tea?
Knowing everything about all the villagers, but not what might happen to them, surely someone there has the answer?
Will this Inspector be more amenable to Kitty and Matt looking into things, than the one they have left behind in Devon?
Another cosy mystery in this series and it was nice to see Kitty and Matt away from their normal setting, but I did miss Kitty’s relationship with her amid and friend Alice.
If you want something light, that is relatively paced and has something terribly British about it, then this series of books is just for you. I look forward to continuing my adventures with them.

Easy reading. I continue to go back to this series for fun and easy mysteries.
The next instalment in the enjoyable Kitty Underhay series, sees Kitty and Matt off on holiday to stay with his Aunt Effie jn Yorkshire. When one of the villagers is killed at the village fair, Kitty and Matt start to look into who is responsible - then another body turns up.
The core characters are as familiar and loveable as always, and while I missed the regulars like Grams and Alice, I do appreciate the need to step away for a refresher. The story was enjoyable, though possibly slightly weaker than recent others in the series - I’m not sure why… still overall a recommended read ☺️
