I fear I read this at the wrong time! The book itself is beautifully written, and the story is quite different to anything I've read before. Overall, I feel like I would have loved this. However, I've been a lot busier recently and my brain was not in 'fantasy book mode'🤣 This took me longer than usual to read, so my consumption of the book was very fragmented. I feel like this might have impacted my experience. It wasn't a bad book at all, and had I read it another time maybe I would have loved it, but unfortunately I was really struggling to push through and read this. If 2.5 is half of 5 though, this is a good book! And i'm sure others would devour it. Maybe it just wasn't for me at this particular moment in time.

The prose is beautiful. I like the mysterious atmosphere. The book ends without answering all the questions and explaining everything, which I enjoy, but others may not. There are heavy themes explored.

holy shit. i was in tears reading the ending. the build up for the end was so good i didn’t even realize how wrapped up in it i was. and the epilogue.. it was simply perfect. i’m still in tears.
