i never could get into the anime before so i really did not think i would care for this.
to my surprise i ended up l o v i n g the first three volumes of the manga! i am actually kind of happy that this was a three-in-one, simply because it made it easy to breeze through.
i feel like the pacing and characterization is more compelling but that is probably just because the manga has a few more details. now that i finished the first three volumes i’m definitely going to start the next one and, maybe, pick the anime back up.
also: i really need to stop getting attached to random side characters who show up for like five minutes, leave, and never make another appearance
OVERALL: 3.5/4 stars

Truly a masterpiece. I really have no other words.
Hello all!
I'm here to say that if you have been dancing around the idea of reading this classic, then, don't. You may have heard that the anime dragged a bit *I'm blaming the fillers, guys* but that doesn't apply here. You may have heard that the anime hasn't aged well *I mean, it's set to the Feudal Era, so I'm not sure on that claim* but even so, Takahashi's art style is generally consistent from Ranma 1/2 to her current Mao series. You have the snarky Kagome Higurashi who is transported to ancient Japan. She must collect the shard of the dangerous Shikon no Tama with the irritable yet loveable half demon Inuyasha to keep them from falling into the hands of evil demons. Sounds cool, right?!
So!
If you like adventure, Japanese demons, romance, isekai?, and some comedy, I am officially inviting you to the start of a journey that will change you FOREVER! (Well, maybe not that dramatic, but come on. Do it. I know you're at least a little curious...)

If loving this makes me trash, I don't want to be treasure.
I love Kagome so much, she is probably one of my favorite characters ever.
This series is just so good and amazing, I remember binge watching the anime when I was younger and now I am probably going to binge read the series.
The characters are just so good and the banter is just priceless. I heavily recommend this series to those who enjoy demons and action pact manga series.

So much nostalgia reading these. I love the VizBig editions for this series. It makes catching up a lot easier. The story itself is very creative and the characters all have great dimension. Inuyasha can be a thick headed idiot who can't express himself and Kagome is a 15 year old girl, so lots of miscommunication for drama points. But they both make assumptions of each other and prove each other right and wrong.
